The KCA Writing Exam is divided two parts.

Part one of the KCA writing exam a longer piece of writing on a specific topic. It is often a personal letter to a friend.  You will need to look at the topic carefully to see what is required.

The second part requires you to write a short piece. Often this piece is a business memo,  fax or e-mail.

For ALL writing topics remember to:

  •  Check to see what information is required for your writing.
  •  Check to see what verb tense or tenses are required in your writing.
  •  Check to see what organizational structure and register is needed.
  •  Example: Is it a personal letter, memo, or e-mail?
  •  Take a few minutes to do a quick plan. This will improve your mark!

To the left are links to help you prepare for the KCA Listening Exam.   While your exam will not be exactly like this, the links will help you to prepare.

Good Luck!
